The Bell Hotel; Bell Hatch, Bell Cottage and Bellside

Several locations in the village have names beginning with 'Bell' - Bell Hatch, Bell Cottage, Bellside. It has always seemed odd that the first two, at least, have those names, especially when they are nowhere near The Bell. The answer seems to be that they were all given their names in the 1960s, when the owners of The Bell bought them as 'annexes' for the hotel, for guests and/or staff to use.

Apparently The Bell Hotel in the Swinging Sixties was 'the' place to stay, and often had famous guests, including Margaret Thatcher, Rex Harrison, and Tom Jones. Do you remember the hotel from then, when there was an old fashioned coach in the front garden? Do you remember when single rooms were £10 a night (doubles £16), inclusive of early morning tea or coffee and a newspaper? Do you have any anecdotes about those times in the village's history?
