Vine Cottage
The passageway to Park Lane between the Old Schoolhouse and the white cottage is known as The Alley; the white cottage to the north of The Alley is a Grade II Listed Building called Vine Cottage. The listing is as follows:
House, late C17 or early C18, painted rubble stone with thatched roof, half-hipped to east. Brick west end and ridge stacks. l½ storeys. Two sections, to left, between stacks, large eyebrow over two casement pairs and two ground floor 6-pane sashes. Another 6-pane sash to right. Door in west end porch. Slightly lower section to right has east end wall casement pair above and two casement pairs below. Listing NGR: ST9464878772
The photo from the early 1900s shows the cottage with a slate / tiled roof, which seems to have been replaced subsequently with thatch.
In 1920 the cottage was half of Lot 88, together with the cottage behind it on Park Lane (now No 8, Oriana's Cottage).
