The Bath Surgeon's Granddaughter; 1940s

The country was at war in 1940, and as more and more people joined the armed forces, there were shortgaes of people in services like postal deliveries. Not only that, newspapers needed 'good news' stories.

The Bath Weekly Chronicle and Herald of 4 January 1941 was not the only newspaper to run with a short article about 17-year old Molly Hughes, who volunteered to deliver the post in Draycot Cerne. Apparently, she rode her pony 'Mickey Mouse' on a 10-mile round trip from Christian Malford, collecting the post from Sutton Benger by 7am and delivering it to Draycot Cerne, accompanied by her dog 'Pickles'.

Does anybody know whether she made a career of it, and at least carried on delivering the post throughout the war?
