Benger Trails
5. Sutton Lane; PRoW

In the 1800s and early 1900s this field was the village allotments. This footpath was originally the track to reach Avon Mill.

1899; the Allotments

NOTE 1:

This field frequently has growing crops, with no sign of the PRoW. As an alternative, turn right (south) along the boundary, keeping the hedge (and Sutton Lane) on your right. Follow the boundary and turn left (east) when you come to the hedge. Follow the hedge to the east until you come to a large gap on your right.

Note 1 alternative route

NOTE 2:

If the weather has been exceedingly wet recently, the fields between here and the Avon may be too flooded.

Flooded water meadow

As a dry-weather alternative, head south down Sutton Lane for about 500 yards (450 metres) until you reach a gateway on your left, leading to the bridleway to Avon Weir.

Bridleway to Avon Weir

If you follow that bridleway for 600 yards (550 metres) you will reach the River Avon. Or you could turn right now towards Sutton Lane Meadows. (Skip to Turning Point 7).
