Benger Trails

To Kington Langley and back via Draycot Cerne

This is a fairly easy cross-country walk with hardly any climbs or descents; it is not suitable for bicycles, pushchairs or wheelchairs as it involves clambering over several stiles.

Unfortunately, it can be quite wet and muddy after recent rain. Waterproof footwear is advisable at all times. Also, there are some parts where there may be brambles, so long trousers would be better than shorts.

6. The Road to Kington Langley; the metal gate

After walking along the straight lane between two hedgerows you come to a gateway, ahead of a large field. There is an old metal gate, which is almost always left open.

From the open metal gate the Public Right of Way goes diagonally across the field ahead of you (heading south-west).

However, if crops have recently been sown, and the path is not clearly visible, it would be advisable to go anti-clockwise around the inside of the field boundaries. Turn right to the corner of the field, passing an old structure on your right, with a corrugated metal roof.
