This junction of footpaths / bridleways by the houses is now just the junction of two Public Rights of Way (PRoW). But in the 1700s it was the junction of two 'main roads'. Before 'the Draycot Straight' was built, the main road from Chippenham came this way; it is still shown as (old) Sutton Road. Any traffic from Kington Langley to Draycot Cerne and Sutton Benger used the 'green road' that we have just walked along.
